Organising a Challenge

If you're looking to organise your own unique attempt at the National Three Peaks, Yorkshire Three Peaks or Welsh 3000's, you'll need to ensure that you've thought of everything, so that as little as possible can go wrong.

Firstly, get the appropriate maps. These bring forward the size of what you are planning to attempt, and will help you decide if you need any help managing the challenge, without it becoming a full time job.

Whichever challenge you are taking part in you will need the appropriate maps.

To accompany your walking maps, you should also have a compass and a bit of practice using the two together.

Using the menu on the left, you'll also want to check all members of your group have the appropriate equipment listed in each challenges equipment list - you should also have a look at the general equipment page, for advice on clothing, walking boots, socks and emergency equipment.

We've also got some advice on nutrition, for advice on food and drink while completing these challenges. You'll be surprised how much difference it can make eating the right food - extending your energy and endurance levels, and helping you keep moving quickly.
