The Fan Dance originated as part of the selection process for UK Special Forces. During selection, candidates attemptted to quickly complete the 22km trek carrying a 60lbs pack.
The route of the Fan Dance is 22km, and includes just over 1700 metres of ascent — this compares to 1500 metres for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
Beginning at the Storey Arms Centre and heading East. On reaching the far side of the Taf Fechan Forest, the route is then completed in reverse.
