Large company teams (50-200): private event planning
This page is for company organisers planning events for 50-200 people. Start with Yorkshire for simpler logistics, then confirm private date options and transport planning.
Quick answer: Yorkshire 3 Peaks is best for large teams, 50-200. National 3 Peaks is suitable for up to around 60 people.
Why Yorkshire works for big groups
The Yorkshire Three Peaks covers Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in a circular walk that starts and ends at the same point. For a company group, that means one meeting point, one set of directions, and no need to coordinate vehicles between peaks.
By comparison, National includes around 10 hours of road transfers between peaks. At larger team sizes this means multiple coaches and tighter overnight transport coordination.
Logistics in the Three Peaks Area
Our start point can handle coaches. If you're arriving in cars, we arrange field parking included in the event, with capacity for 50+ cars. The route itself is well-marked and well-worn, so groups don't need to navigate beyond following the path.
Mobile signal is patchy on the tops of Whernside and Ingleborough but reliable in the valley and at the start/finish. Our event teams carry radios on the route, so you're not relying on phones for safety comms.
Groups of 100+
When numbers go above 100, the main concern is bottlenecks. Pen-y-ghent has a short rocky scramble near the summit that slows everyone to single file. If 120 people hit that at the same time, you get a queue.
The fix is staggered starts: groups of 20-30 leaving at 15-20 minute intervals. This spreads the field across the route and keeps the scramble sections moving. On a private company date, we set the start schedule with you in advance so you can organise your teams around it.
What about the National?
The National Three Peaks is feasible for large teams up to around 60 people, but the transport coordination is a different order of magnitude. We arrange transport in-house, with minibuses and mini-coaches available - some access roads aren't suitable for larger coaches.
Preparation
The most common risk in large company groups is uneven training volume across the team.
Share the 8-week training plan when you announce the event, not two weeks before. Send the kit list at the same time so participants can prepare boots and waterproof layers early.
Booking
Large company groups usually book private Yorkshire dates. For smaller private groups, National and Welsh start from 8+, while Yorkshire private events are generally practical from around 30. Start with private bookings and dates to check availability, or get in touch if you need to discuss numbers or timelines.
