Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. Whether you're planning your first walk or looking for specific information about the route, we've answered the most common questions below.

Can't find what you're looking for? Get in touch and we'll be happy to help.

  • Do I have to wear walking boots?

Yes! Our events require all participants and staff to wear walking boots, rather than trail running shoes or approach shoes.

If you usually prefer shoes, manufacturers such as Salomon, Scarpa, Mammut and Innov8 make lightweight boots suitable for our challenges.

  • How do we book for a group?

Either, proceed with a single booking for all your group members. We'll send you a participant form link to share with your group. You'll need to arrange payments amongst yourselves.

Or, book for yourself (and any close group members), and we'll give you a group booking link to share - anyone who uses that link to book will be grouped with you as normal on the challenge, but be responsible for their own payments and forms.

  • Are there toilets on the route?

Yes! We start before 6am, and there are toilets available at approximately 10am (Horton-in-Ribblesdale), 2pm (Ribblehead) and at the finish (back in Chapel le Dale).

  • Is there a minimum age to take part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks?

We can accommodate participants of 12 years-of-age and over, of a suitable level of fitness - please check with us in advance of booking for participants of 12-14 years-of-age. We require that participants who are under 18 are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • How often are water top-ups?

Please come topped up with water at the start. We're able to meet our support vehicles between each mountain, at approximately 10am and 2pm - first for water top-ups only, and at the second stop for both water and refreshments.

  • Can I take part in the Three Peaks while pregnant?
Our guidance is that you shouldn't take part in the Three Peaks while pregnant.
  • Can I bring my dog?

You're very welcome to bring your dog! Please bear in mind that the route is largely over farmland, so they will need to be kept on a lead throughout.

  • Can you provide a sponsorship form?

Yes! Please click the link below to open and save a template sponsorship form.

  • What do we get afterwards?

Certificates of achievement are included in our organised events and are handed out afterwards.

Yorkshire Three Peaks Medals are also available online from the Three Peaks Shop.
