Yorkshire Wolds Way

Chalk Downland of the East

The Yorkshire Wolds Way follows the curve of the Yorkshire Wolds for 79 miles from Hessle near Hull to Filey Brigg on the coast. This National Trail explores the rolling chalk hills of East Yorkshire, a landscape quite unlike the gritstone and limestone of the western dales.

The route passes through dry valleys, ancient woodlands, and quiet farming villages largely untouched by tourism. Wide skies and gentle gradients characterise this understated trail, which offers excellent walking through a surprisingly remote corner of England before culminating at the dramatic cliffs of Flamborough Head.
