Cleveland Way

Cleveland Way

Circling the North York Moors

The Cleveland Way forms a 110-mile horseshoe around the North York Moors National Park, combining heather moorland, ancient woodland, and dramatic coastal cliffs. Opened in 1969 as England's second National Trail, it runs from Helmsley to Filey Brigg on the Yorkshire coast.

The inland section follows the escarpment edge of the Hambleton and Cleveland Hills, offering expansive views across the Vale of York and Vale of Mowbray. The coastal stretch features some of England's highest cliffs, passing through historic fishing villages including Staithes and Robin Hood's Bay.
