Frequently asked questions about the Oggie 8 Challenge

  • Do I have to wear walking boots?

    Yes! Our events require all participants and staff to wear walking boots, rather than trail running shoes or approach shoes.

    If you usually prefer shoes, manufacturers such as Salomon, Scarpa, Mammut and Innov8 make lightweight boots suitable for our challenges.

  • Are there toilets on the route?

    Yes, toilets are available at the start/finish point, and the midway check-point.

  • How fit do I need to be?

    Please check our Training Guide. The Oggie 8 Challenge is of a similar requirement to the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

  • Is there a minimum age to take part in the Oggie 8 Challenge?

    We can accommodate participants of 12 years-of-age and over, of a suitable level of fitness - please check with us in advance of booking for participants of 12-14 years-of-age. We require that participants who are under 18 are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • How often are water top-ups?

    Please come topped up with water at the start. We're able to meet our support vehicles at the midway point for water top-ups and refreshments.

  • Can I take part in the Oggie 8 Challenge while pregnant?
    Our guidance is that you shouldn't take part in the Oggie 8 Challenge while pregnant.
  • Can I bring my dog?

    Please contact us in advance if you plan to bring your dog with you. Please bear in mind that the route is largely over farmland, so they will need to be kept on a lead throughout.
