Cycling the Welsh Three Peaks

Cycling the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge is an excellent 134 mile (215.6km) route, largely following National Cycle Route 8.

The full cycle route includes 2350 metres (7713ft) of ascent, plus 2334 metres (7657ft) of ascent on foot.

Cycle Route 8 is mostly on quiet roads, and only a small diversion off the route is required at the A487, to head south to the Dôl Idris car park for Cadair Idris.

Similarly on arrival in Brecon by Route 8, Pen y Fan can either be accessed from the north near to Ffrwdgrech, or from the west on the popular route from the Storey Arms, via the A470 or minor roads alongside that.

Stage One

Snowdon to Cadair Idris, 44.6 miles (71.7km)

Stage Two

Cadair Idris to Pen y Fan, 88.9 miles (143km)
