Offa's Dyke Path

Walking the Border

Offa's Dyke Path follows the England-Wales border for 177 miles from Sedbury Cliffs near Chepstow to Prestatyn on the North Wales coast. This National Trail traces the line of the 8th-century earthwork built by King Offa of Mercia, passing through the Wye Valley, Black Mountains, Shropshire Hills, and Clwydian Range.

The northern section through Denbighshire and Flintshire offers fine ridge walking with views across the Vale of Clwyd to the mountains of Snowdonia. The trail culminates in a dramatic descent to the Irish Sea, completing a journey along one of Britain's most significant historical boundaries.
