The Cheviot Three Peaks, Northumberland
The Cheviot Three Peaks is a lesser known local mountain challenge based in the Northumberland uplands, linking three prominent hills in the Cheviot Hills near the England Scotland border. It developed informally among local walking clubs and experienced hillwalkers rather than as a nationally defined challenge.
The three hills most commonly included are The Cheviot, Hedgehope Hill and Humbleton Hill. Together they form a demanding upland circuit over open, often boggy terrain, with fewer paths and facilities than more popular challenges. As a result, the Cheviot Three Peaks has remained a quieter, self planned undertaking that places a strong emphasis on navigation, weather judgement and respect for remote hill environments.
